PHILADELPHIA – The June 30th deadline to support Penn student-athletes in the 2016-17 academic year is quickly approaching.  Annually, support from alumni, family and fans helps lay the foundation for student-athletes to develop both on and off the field while cultivating unique life lessons and skills that can only be learned through competing in intercollegiate athletics at Penn.

This year, philanthropic support has empowered student-athletes to claim six conference championships – the third highest in a single year.  These championships not only elevate Penn’s competitive standing in the Ivy League and nationally, but more importantly have a lifelong impact on student-athletes. This year, these student-athletes include Michelle Nwokedi C’18 of Women’s Basketball and Brendan Shearn C’17 of Men’s Cross Country, among many others.  In addition to success in competition, Penn’s NCAA Academic Progress Rate recently ranked fourth nationally, tying with Stanford and ranking ahead of Harvard, Yale and Princeton.

The generosity of the Penn Athletics community is on track to break multiple fundraising records on June 30th – but the work is not yet complete.  The Penn Champions Club would like to thank everyone who has helped build the momentum of the 2016-17 academic year so far.  If you have not yet supported a varsity athletic program this year, please click here to make an impact today or call 215-898-4717 to creating a lasting impact on the lives of Penn student-athletes.
