PHILADELPHIA – The 2018 Women’s Giving Challenge launched on March 1st and concluded on March 31st.  During this challenge, up to $100,000 was available to match all new and increased dollars raised to a Penn Athletic varsity program with a women’s team.  Additionally, alumnae from each women’s team competed for $20,000 in bonus funds.  The match dollars and bonus funds were made available by the generosity of an anonymous donor.

In a span of just 31 days, over 400 Penn Athletics alumni, family members and friends generously gave over $450,000 in support of varsity programs with a women’s team, including over $100,000 in new and increased gifts.

Women’s Golf achieved the highest alumnae participation, reaching 24% and claiming a $10,000 prize towards supporting current student-athletes.  Gymnastics was a close second with a participation rate of 22% and claimed a $4,000 award.  Lacrosse had the third highest alumnae participation rate at 15%, receiving $4,000 in bonus funds.

The Penn Champions Club would like to thank every member of the Penn Athletics community who participated in the 2018 Women’s Giving Challenge.  The financial contributions from the supporters of Penn Athletics help provide a foundation for Penn student-athletes that will serve them not only for their four years on campus, but for the next forty years as well.  If you would like to support Penn Athletics, please click here.
