GIVING OPTIONS
A GIFT THROUGH YOUR WILL
Gifts by will are an easy and powerful way to show support. A bequest
can be made in the form of a specific dollar amount or property, or a
percentage of the remainder of an estate. The latter allows more flexibility
in planning.
A GIFT THAT PROVIDES PAYMENTS TO YOU
Make a gift and receive payments for yourself or a loved one while
achieving income tax and estate planning objectives. Penn offers options
including charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts.
A GIFT OF RETIREMENT PLAN ASSETS OR LIFE INSURANCE
Designate Penn Athletics as a remainder beneficiary of your IRA or other
qualified retirement plan or your life insurance policy.
A SMART GIFT
The IRA charitable rollover allows those age 70½ and older to give up to
$100,000 from their IRA to Penn Athletics tax-free, allowing a transfer
directly to Penn without having to recognize the transfer as taxable income.
A GIFT FOR MANY
The Penn Donor Advised Fund is a way to support Penn Athletics and other
charities in an efficient way. The Penn DAF provides a way to make a gift
now and “lock in” a charitable tax deduction the year the gift is made, while
making charitable distribution recommendations at a later date. A Penn
DAF is easier to create and manage, and is more tax-effective, than a private
or family foundation.
A TAX-WISE GIFT
Establish a charitable lead trust and achieve certain income or estate tax
planning objectives. A charitable lead trust holds income-producing assets
for a number of years, making annual payments to Penn Athletics. When the
trust ends, assets are paid back to you, your children or your grandchildren.
