PHILADELPHIA: In another thrilling Red and Blue Challenge, the Quaker community rallied around the priority of sustaining and supporting Penn Athletics annual funds - and the impact was overwhelming!
The Penn Champions Club today announced that Penn Athletics raised more than $825,000 in annual fund dollars thanks to nearly 2,500 alumni, parents, students, family, and friends during the course of the Challenge for varsity sports, band, cheer, and sport clubs.
These contributions directly support our nearly 1,000 varsity student-athletes and sport club participants, and are a critical resource for helping us meet the needs of today's Quakers and advancing the mission of Penn Athletics.
The Red and Blue Challenge results are now official! Congratulations to the following teams for winning bonus prize money towards their annual funds: Football, Swimming & Diving, Basketball, Lightweight Rowing, Soccer, Fencing, Golf, Gymnastics, Field Hockey, Men's Club Ice Hockey, and Club Sailing. Each challenge category won carries a $2,000 bonus prize towards the winning teams' annual funds, with a total of $48,000 in bonus prize money awarded. A special congratulations goes to Claire Rauscher, C'78, Penn Volleyball Board Co-Chair, for winning the Red and Blue Ambassador Challenge and earning Volleyball an additional $1,000 in bonus prize money towards their annual fund.
Thank you to everyone who made this achievement possible - our alumni, parents, family, and friends, and especially our Board of Advisors and volunteer leadership.
On behalf of our student-athletes, participants, coaches and staff, thank you again for your support of Penn Athletics.
Hurrah for the Red and Blue!
